YOUR FIRST HIRE

Where is the work getting stuck?

These are starting points. If your workload crosses roles, share it with us before choosing a title.

COMPARE BEFORE YOU COMMIT

QA & testing roles and monthly costs.

Choose by the work you need owned. Open an individual role guide for responsibilities, tools, screening and detailed pricing.

Published USD ranges per dedicated full-time seat, per month. Experience, scope and working hours affect the final quote. These are role ranges, not a bundled team price.
RoleWhen to consider itUSD / month
QA automation engineer ↗Repeated manual checks or a flaky suite slow an ongoing release schedule and need dedicated maintenance.$1,795–$2,395
Manual QA Tester ↗Features are reaching release without consistent checks of user journeys and important edge cases.$1,595–$2,095
Software Tester ↗Your application needs repeatable quality checks across features and integrations under a defined QA process.$1,595–$2,095
Mobile App Tester ↗Your mobile releases need coverage of device behavior that desktop or browser testing does not capture.$1,795–$2,395
Performance Tester ↗Your product needs recurring performance validation with realistic traffic assumptions and an engineering team able to act on findings.$1,795–$2,395

Included in the seat

THE WORKING RELATIONSHIP

Extra capacity, managed your way.

US product teams and development agencies with recurring releases, accessible test environments and someone accountable for release decisions.

  • A continuing workload that can support a full-time role.
  • A manager who can set priorities, review output and answer questions.
  • Documented access, approval and escalation rules.

Testing informs release decisions; it cannot guarantee defect-free software. Your team retains acceptance criteria and release approval. Security testing is a separate scope to confirm.

Compare staffing with other delivery models ↗

Where a person adds value alongside AI.

AI can suggest cases and draft scripts. Testers still challenge assumptions, identify missing expectations, reproduce failures and explain product risk to the team.

Include approved tools and review rules in the brief. Assess the person’s ability to validate outputs and handle exceptions, not simply their ability to use a tool.

HIRE FOR THE ACTUAL WORK

Make the interview practical.

Provide a small testable feature and ask for a risk-based test plan and reproducible defect report. For automation, assess assertions and failure diagnosis; for performance, assess workload assumptions and interpretation.

A focused first month

  1. 01

Map critical journeys, environments and release risks.

  2. 02

Establish a reviewed set of tests and defect-report conventions.

  3. 03

Agree recurring coverage, maintenance and release reporting.

This is a suggested onboarding sequence; agree timing and responsibilities for your role. See how recruitment and onboarding work.

BEFORE YOU HIRE

Questions about qa & testing staff.

Do we need manual testing before automation?

Automation is most useful for repeatable checks with stable expected behaviour. Manual and exploratory testing help investigate new features and unclear behaviour. Many teams need both, with scope based on their release risks.

Can you hire someone to repair a flaky test suite?

Yes. Describe the framework, CI setup and failure patterns. Reliability work and suite maintenance should be part of the brief, not an assumed side task.

Is one tester enough for every platform?

That depends on the device matrix, releases and test depth. Share the coverage requirements so the role and workload can be assessed realistically.

Who manages the work and employment?

You choose the candidate, assign priorities and review the work. Your Remote Staff recruits and supports the person from a managed office in Pune, India, with standard hardware, IT, HR, payroll and replacement support included in the monthly seat.

How soon can we hire?

The shortlist timeline depends on the skills, seniority, hours and candidate availability. Share your brief and target start date so we can discuss a realistic hiring plan. You interview and select the candidate.

A USEFUL FIRST CONVERSATION

Bring a brief, or bring the bottleneck.

You do not need a finished job description. Start with:

  • Product, release frequency, risk areas and current test coverage
  • Frameworks, test data, environments and device or browser needs
  • QA reviewer, release criteria and reporting expectations

What happens after you enquire?

We review the workload with you, discuss the right role and experience, and confirm pricing and hiring next steps. You interview the shortlisted candidates and choose who joins your team.
