YOUR FIRST HIRE

Where is the work getting stuck?

These are starting points. If your workload crosses roles, share it with us before choosing a title.

COMPARE BEFORE YOU COMMIT

Customer support roles and monthly costs.

Choose by the work you need owned. Open an individual role guide for responsibilities, tools, screening and detailed pricing.

Published USD ranges per dedicated full-time seat, per month. Experience, scope and working hours affect the final quote. These are role ranges, not a bundled team price.

THE WORKING RELATIONSHIP

Extra capacity, managed your way.

US SaaS, ecommerce and service businesses with a recurring support queue, a knowledge base or training owner, and clear escalation responsibility.

  • A continuing workload that can support a full-time role.
  • A manager who can set priorities, review output and answer questions.
  • Documented access, approval and escalation rules.

Your business sets refunds, service commitments and escalation policy. One staff member does not provide 24/7 coverage. Phone support and shift requirements must be confirmed in the scope.

Compare staffing with other delivery models ↗

Where a person adds value alongside AI.

AI can classify tickets and suggest replies. Staff still resolve context gaps, handle exceptions, coordinate with internal teams and check whether a proposed answer actually solves the customer’s issue.

Include approved tools and review rules in the brief. Assess the person’s ability to validate outputs and handle exceptions, not simply their ability to use a tool.

HIRE FOR THE ACTUAL WORK

Make the interview practical.

Use anonymised tickets, including an ambiguous or upset customer scenario. Assess understanding, tone, troubleshooting and escalation. Confirm written and spoken communication requirements for the actual channels.

A focused first month

  1. 01

Provide product training, policies, escalation routes and access.

  2. 02

Review a sample queue and draft responses before wider ownership.

  3. 03

Agree quality checks, handovers and queue reporting.

This is a suggested onboarding sequence; agree timing and responsibilities for your role. See how recruitment and onboarding work.

BEFORE YOU HIRE

Questions about customer support staff.

Do I need customer support or customer success?

Support handles questions and issues. Customer success often focuses on onboarding, adoption and ongoing follow-through. Choose based on the workload and define which commercial decisions remain with your team.

Can we arrange US business-hours coverage?

Specify your time zone and required live hours before hiring. Coverage is agreed for the role; heavy US-hours overlap may cost extra. A broader coverage window may require multiple people.

Can the person use our existing helpdesk?

Yes, recruit against the platform and workflow you require. Include permissions, training and any paid licence requirements in the brief.

Who manages the work and employment?

You choose the candidate, assign priorities and review the work. Your Remote Staff recruits and supports the person from a managed office in Pune, India, with standard hardware, IT, HR, payroll and replacement support included in the monthly seat.

How soon can we hire?

The shortlist timeline depends on the skills, seniority, hours and candidate availability. Share your brief and target start date so we can discuss a realistic hiring plan. You interview and select the candidate.

A USEFUL FIRST CONVERSATION

Bring a brief, or bring the bottleneck.

You do not need a finished job description. Start with:

  • Channels, ticket volume, complexity and common contact reasons
  • Helpdesk, knowledge base, policies and escalation owner
  • Required time zones, response goals and quality review process

What happens after you enquire?

We review the workload with you, discuss the right role and experience, and confirm pricing and hiring next steps. You interview the shortlisted candidates and choose who joins your team.
